How do we apply for a grant from the Association?
1. Via the AJC application system, SmartSimple. Before starting your application, please review the 'essential reading' below. You can download these documents and print to read.

3. Using SmartSimple (the system)
- You need to register as a user on SmartSimple via smartsimpleuk.com before you can make an application. You can do this at any time.
- Once you get an email to say registration is complete, you can log in to the system, set a password and make an application.
- Please read the on screen instructions and help boxes - particularly on the first application screen where you are asked to "save" your application before you answer any of the questions. If you don't do this you will not see all the questions you need to answer.
- You can save your application at any time and return to it, so don’t panic! We are here to help you!
- Applications for small grants cannot be made via SmartSimple.
- If you are having difficulties, please contact the Grants Manager, andrewl@jerseycharities.org, who will be able to assist.
5. Publicising your Grant Award
Grant recipients will need to acknowledge the source of funds both from the AJC and the States of Jersey Channel Islands lottery profits, where appropriate with logo:

Small Grants for Small Charities
The small grants scheme is funded from member funds and is generally only intended for small charities.
We define “small” charities as those charities which have limited financial resources and are managed and run by volunteers, with no executive level employees. Charities which employ staff to provide administration support, counselling, therapy and other services may apply provided these are the only staff roles.
Small charities are permitted to make one application each year for up to £10,000. Applications can be made at any time and the process is simple – essentially the completion of a template application form setting out relevant information and attaching appropriate financial information and quotes. It also includes a certification.

As with all AJC grants, we also ask that our support is publicised as widely as possible eg on your website, social media, newsletters, letterhead, email footers, business cards etc.
You will be required to submit a short report once your small grant project has been completed.
Please provide brief and clear information when answering the questions in the application form. Once completed, and where possible, please save this form as a pdf and send by email together with attachments to smallgrants@jerseycharities.org - alternatively please send by post to PO Box 356, St Helier, Jersey JE4 9YZ marked for the attention of the Grants Manager. You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt.
Grants from private, conditional and restricted funds
The AJC administers grants from a number of awards made by third party, private and charity donors. Applicants cannot usually apply directly for a grant from these funds unless invited to do so by the AJC as they have specific criteria and restrictions set by the donor.
The AJC selects applications which meet the relevant criteria from requests submitted to both the Jersey Funders Group and its own general grants programme. If a request qualifies for funding from one of these donations and is selected from applications submitted to the JFG, you will be contacted and invited to apply. If you have made an application for an AJC grant, you will be contacted and advised that it is being considered for funding from a specific donation. In both cases you will be advised whether any particular conditions apply.
The application process is the same as for any AJC grant except that you may be asked to select a named “funding opportunity” on the grants portal.
